The MAKEATHON Africa by CETIME: a catalyst for industrial innovation at BigTech Africa 2025

The CETIME announces an unprecedented event at the heart of BigTech Africa 2025: the MAKEATHON Africa, a collaborative technological challenge dedicated to the industry of the future.
Held on August 30 and 31, 2025, at CRT Sousse, this event will bring together students, engineers, startups, and industrial companies to co-create concrete solutions to tomorrow’s mechanical and mechatronic challenges.
“The MAKEATHON Africa illustrates our vision: making industrial innovation a strategic lever for Tunisia and Africa, by fostering co-creation and technology transfer.” – CETIME
An innovation lab in action
The MAKEATHON Africa will be designed as a space for experimentation and intense collaboration, with:
- 48 hours of design and prototyping around real industrial challenges
- Multidisciplinary teams combining young talents and industrial experts
- Coaches and experts to support the projects
- A public presentation and awards ceremony at the BigTech Africa 2025 Expo on September 10.
The themes address major challenges: AI-based predictive maintenance, energy optimization of mechanical processes, low-cost automation, robotics, mechatronics, and Industry 4.0.
A strong signal for Tunisia and African industry
With this MAKEATHON, CETIME and its partners position Tunisia as a regional hub for applied innovation, creating a strategic bridge between local industry and African industrial ecosystems.
“It’s more than just a hackathon: it’s a platform to bring out concrete industrial solutions, strengthen African synergies, and identify the talents of tomorrow.”
An open call for participation
The MAKEATHON targets a wide range of actors: students, engineers, startups, industrial companies, laboratories and research centers, associations, and independent innovators.
